Revisions effective Monday, July 1st. Libraries must be visited on each scheduled day, regardless of whether media or books are available for delivery. Additionally, Xcelerator (linked to MobileTek) has been updated to reflect pick-ups at a NOW Courier location and deliveries at specific libraries. Libraries may have different protocols for delivery and exchange locations. Contractors who interact with a librarian or another library staff member must provide a name for the Proof of Delivery (POD). Contractors informed of a specific delivery/exchange location, such as a lockbox or cart, must note this location in the POD. For example, “lockbox inside front door” or “cart at aisle A.” The words “exchange” or “complete” do not meet customer requirements. Please reach out to operations with any questions.

We are excited to announce that Michelle Funez will be transferring to the Indianapolis Operations as a Planner Specialist, effective Monday, July 1st. She has been a valuable member of the Contractor Relations team, and we all wish her the very best in her new role. Currently, there are no immediate plans to backfill the Advisor, Corporate Operations role. Instead, certain responsibilities will be redistributed among other members of the Contractor Relations team, while some duties will be discontinued as both advisor roles (Indianapolis and Branches) will remain vacant. Mickayla Valle will continue as the Talent Acquisition Specialist, and Brittany Froeschke will remain in her position as Compliance Coordinator. For any inquiries about the adjusted Contractor Relations Department, please contact Nick Van Horn, Director, Talent Management. If you have questions regarding Michelle’s role within Indianapolis Operations, reach out to Aaron Davis, Manager, Indianapolis Operations.

In Compliance
Important! Contractors tasked with transporting a Category A infectious substance should confirm that the name and address on the parcel match those listed in the mobile application. Upon confirming a match, contractors must contact operations to report that a Category A infectious substance is in transit. Category A infectious substances can cause permanent disability, life threatening or fatal disease to humans or animals when exposure to them occurs. Category A infectious substances have two shipping names: “Infectious substances, affecting humans” (UN 2814) or “Infectious substances, affecting animals” (UN 2900). Examples of Category A include classical Swine Fever virus (cultures only), Herpes B virus (cultures only), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (cultures only), Monkeypox virus, and West Nile virus (cultures only). The shipper bears the responsibility for ensuring that materials being shipped are properly packaged, which includes classification, identification, marking, labeling, and providing necessary documentation with the package. The shipper must also be trained in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations, and any internal policies, including requirements for the type and frequency of training, and must receive additional training whenever there are changes in laws, regulations, or internal policies. The contractor is required to: • Store, load, inspect, and deliver packages to an approved location using approved access routes. • Report any and all violations of laws or regulations. • Retain all records. • Have appropriate shipping training. Package inspection involves: • Checking for any damage to packages; • Adhering to reporting guidelines and ensuring immediate communication with the shipper, receiver, public health, and regulatory authorities. Should any problems or incidents occur during the transit or transport of the material, the contractor must contact the relevant law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the matter. Additionally, the contractor must immediately notify operations of any such events. The contractor is solely responsible for the proper transportation of Category A infectious substances, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The contractor must ensure that all transportation and transit activities are carried out in compliance with these legal requirements. All activities related to the transportation of Category A infectious substances shall be governed by the terms and conditions set forth in the Independent Contractor Agreement. The contractor assumes full responsibility for adhering to all legal and regulatory obligations. NOW Courier explicitly disclaims any liability for violations of such laws and regulations committed by the contractor.

On Monday, April 8, a total eclipse will grace the skies, with Indianapolis poised directly in its path. This celestial event is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors to the city and surrounding areas, not to mention the 3.9 million Indiana residents within the eclipse's path who may journey to central Indiana. The eclipse will achieve totality in Indianapolis at 3:06 PM, lasting approximately 3 minutes and 50 seconds. Meanwhile, Bloomington will experience over 4 minutes of totality, with Terre Haute and Evansville enjoying around 3 minutes. Local officials, including those from Indianapolis EMS and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, have warned of significant traffic congestion and possible cell signal disruptions due to the high volume of calls expected. To support contractors, we will continually update this page with any information that could affect service and routes. Contractors who are aware of customer closures or changes to operating hours are encouraged to share this information by commenting on this post. • We advise contractors to arrive early on Monday, April 8, to get ready for their route launch due to the expected surge in traffic volume.

In MobileTek
Inputs & Pre-Conditions All contractors should always have the most up to date version of the MobileTek Core app. Contractors should also ensure the location services on their mobile device is set to "Allow Always." Any debug reports submitted should be referenced in support tickets by the NOW Courier team. This will allow the MobileTek support team to quickly obtain the data needed to troubleshoot issues. Definitions Debug Report: An action taken by a contractor to provide data and context from a mobile device to the Key Software MobileTek support team. Process 1. From the Home screen in the app, click on the menu at the top left of the screen. 2. Next access settings by clicking on the gear icon. 3. In settings, click on Debug Report. 4. Identify the issue from the available list of dropdown issues. If none match the description of the issue, then select “Other.” The available options are: Camera not working properly, Orders closed during POD, Not Syncing / Refreshing, GPS not being reported, Crashing, Other. After identifying the description select “OK.” Once you have selected the correct issue, click "Submit." 5. We recognize that contractors are responsible with managing numerous customer obligations, leading to Agreements and Addendums for their review and signature. Regrettably, it is common for contractors to respond with "I did not read the Contract [or Addendum]" when an issue is raised; thus, attempting to deflect responsibility. (It's unfortunate that this approach doesn't work with credit card issuers, lenders, and mortgage companies!) NOW Courier advises against contractors signing any documents that they have not thoroughly read or understood, as executed agreements are legally binding, akin to any other terms and conditions acknowledged. To support contractors, we have recently incorporated new language, prominently displayed in bold and highlighted in yellow, into Route Addendums, which states: By signing this Addendum to the Independent Contractor Agreement, I, the undersigned CONTRACTOR, hereby acknowledge that I have thoroughly read and understood each Section of this Addendum. I affirm that I have had the opportunity to obtain clarification on any aspects of this Addendum and have had all my questions satisfactorily addressed prior to signing. Moreover, to assist contractors in obtaining essential information, we have introduced a range of resources. These enhancements include an online forum, text messaging, newsletters, town hall meetings, Expiration Reminder, an online chatbot for compliance questions, and a completely redesigned orientation program for new contractors. Kindly remember that any document you sign, or that is shared with you for review, including emails, texts, notices, and other forms of communication, will be enforced. We trust in your diligence to thoroughly review and comprehend the contents of such documents before affixing your signature, whether they pertain to the Independent Contractor Agreement, a Route Addendum, customer requirements, or any other relevant documents. This policy is applicable to all contractors. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Operations or Contractor Relations.

Commission disputes must now be officially submitted via the Contractor's page on the NOW Courier website. Per the "Settlement Period" section of the Independent Contractor Agreement, contractors have the right to challenge any commission amount they find incorrect. To do so, contractors must formally notify NOW Courier in writing within 15 days of receiving the disputed commission via online submission. By consenting to these terms, contractors acknowledge that failing to submit their dispute in writing within this 15-day window will result in forfeiting their right to contest the commission.
